Comic-Con San Diego 2023
Comic-Con has descended upon San Diego once again! It is one of my favorite weeks of the year, and I am looking forward to sharing my schedule with you! This year, due to the actors and rider strike, there will not be as many panels featuring new in upcoming shows and movies. This will make getting into some of the panels a little bit easier, I’m hoping. With that being said, I’m focusing on activations and offsite experiences this year. Here are the main attractions I have scheduled for this week.
Hulu Ani-mayhem
This year, Hulu is bringing an animated group of shows to their offsite activation. Just on the backside of the convention center. You will find their exhibit featuring several blowups and bringing their animated series to life. Here you will be able to have photo opportunities and chances to win some prizes. This activation does have required ticketing. However, there is usually a standby line available. Click here for more information. Adult Swim
Adult Swim is at a new location this year and they are coming back with their fun and interactive experiences. They’ll be hosting their carnival games, food and show previews. This is also a ticketed event however, they do allow standby lines, and this is usually one of the faster lines during Comic-Con. For information on what will be available click here.
The Lodge by Paramount+
This is going to be an amazing activation. You are not going to want to miss! They have already sent out tickets for this event however, they will have a standby line. This is located in the heart of the Gaslamp, you might remember this as where the practical jokers have been located the past few years. This activation is going to offer several unique experiences within its location. You’ll be able to move throughout the space and visit things like pop-up shops and speakeasies. Click here for information on all the fun you will find.
BoxLunch and Entertainment Weekly
This off-site event hosted by BoxLunch and Entertainment Weekly is one that comes with an excellent cause! They’re inviting people to stop by their treat truck and share about their mission to provide food for those in need. For every tweet from someone who attends the event they will provide a meal for a person in need. If you tweet using #BoxLunchXEW, you’ll be able to help feed someone through their initiative. This activation is going to give fans an insight into the world of Anne Rice’s Interview with Vampire series, Immortals. This activation located at the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter will be a treat for those following along the story. This activation is a ticketed event however, there will be a standby line, and the by the looks of the fence is set up for the standby line they expect to have many people participate! Take a look at their site for more information.
IMDb Boat
The IMDb boat is a staple in the Comic-Con tradition! Here in the San Diego Harbor you will find the IMDb boat dock just behind the convention center. The event is ticketed; however, they did allow a lot of standby people to enter the boat last year and I have a feeling it will be the same for this year. On board you will find several photo opportunities, trivia games, free food, and drinks, as well as some fine parting gifts! To learn more about this event, click here.
