San Diego Comic-Con 2026 Offsites Reviewed

San Diego Comic-Con is about so much more than what happens inside the convention center. Every year, some of the most memorable experiences happen throughout downtown San Diego, where studios and brands transform ordinary spaces into immersive worlds for fans.

For San Diego Comic-Con 2026, I made it a priority to experience several of the major offsite activations. While some were bigger and more elaborate than others, each offered something different.

Here’s my honest review of the SDCC 2026 offsites I visited, including what worked, what could have been better, and which ones stood out as my favorites.

Paramount+ Lodge: Great Standby Access, Food, Drinks and an Alien DJ

The Paramount+ Lodge was one of those offsites that managed to combine a lot of different experiences into one location. One thing I particularly appreciated was how well they handled the standby line. Getting into a popular Comic-Con activation without a reservation can sometimes feel impossible, but the standby process here worked really well.

Once inside, there was plenty to enjoy, including good food, great drinks and fun photo opportunities.

But one of my favorite surprises was the entertainment. The alien DJ was excellent and added an unexpected energy to the experience - especially when he incorporated the sax! It was the kind of quirky Comic-Con moment that made the visit memorable.

My takeaway: Great standby-line management, good food and drinks, fun photos and an entertaining atmosphere made Paramount+ Lodge a strong overall experience.

Hulu Animayhem: A Great Concept With Some Line Challenges

Hulu Animayhem is always one of the more ambitious Comic-Con experiences, and the 2026 activation had a fantastic concept. The biggest challenge was the line. The activation was clearly in high demand, and the line management sometimes felt a little overwhelming as crowds built up. Once inside, however, the experience was a lot of fun.

There were great photo opportunities, plenty to look at and, of course, the delicious coffee, which was a definite highlight for me. The popularity of Hulu Animayhem is understandable. It has become one of those Comic-Con destinations that fans actively seek out, but that popularity also makes efficient crowd management especially important.

My takeaway: A fun and creative concept with excellent photo opportunities and delicious coffee, although the line experience could use some refinement when demand is extremely high.

Percy Jackson Experience: Improvements Made a Big Difference

The Percy Jackson Experience made some noticeable improvements this year, particularly when it came to the line.

Compared with previous years, there was more shade and better coverage, which made waiting outside much more comfortable. At a convention where people can spend hours standing in the San Diego summer sun, those details really matter.

Inside, the experience was cute, well decorated and filled with fun photo opportunities.

I also loved the giveaways. They were a nice little bonus and gave fans something tangible to take home after completing the experience. The combination of the theming, photo opportunities and improvements to the queue made this one feel like a more polished experience this year.

My takeaway: The improved line setup was a major win. More shade, better coverage, fun photos and cute giveaways made the Percy Jackson Experience a solid Comic-Con stop.

Adult Swim on the Green: A Better Experience This Year

Adult Swim on the Green has been a Comic-Con staple, and I thought 2026 was better than previous years.

My favorite part was definitely the carnival ride. It added an element of silly, chaotic fun that felt very appropriate for Adult Swim. I also thought the line management inside felt faster, which helped the overall experience move along more efficiently.

There was one major issue, though: the activation really needs a bathroom or access to one while it is open. When you're spending time at a large outdoor activation, having restroom access is an important part of the guest experience. I heard reports that the activation closed early on Sunday, although that wasn't something I personally experienced.

My takeaway: Adult Swim on the Green was an improvement over previous years, and the carnival ride was a blast. Better restroom access would make the experience even stronger.

Lanterns: One of My Favorite Comic-Con Offsites

Of everything I experienced at San Diego Comic-Con this year, Lanterns was easily one of my favorites.

This activation was simply so much fun.

The interactive elements kept the experience moving, and the actors inside were amazing. They helped make the activation feel more immersive rather than simply walking through a series of photo opportunities.

The prizes were also great, which made completing the experience feel worthwhile.

And then came the bonus at the end: an additional photo opportunity and a Heineken to celebrate.

That final moment was a fun way to wrap everything up and gave the activation a real sense of occasion.

For me, Lanterns checked so many of the boxes that make a great Comic-Con offsite: interactivity, entertainment, great photo opportunities, memorable characters, prizes and a fun ending.

My takeaway: One of my absolute favorites of SDCC 2026. Lanterns was interactive, entertaining and rewarding from beginning to end.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe: Fun, Clever and Well Designed

The Stuart Fails to Save the Universe activation was another experience that really understood how to make a fan interaction entertaining. The entire activation was well designed, and there was plenty to keep you engaged. One of my favorite elements was the character analysis game. Instead of simply walking through the activation and taking pictures, you actually had something fun to do.

The giveaway at the end was also generous, and interestingly, it accomplished something that a good activation should: it made me want to watch the show.

That's a pretty successful piece of marketing.

My takeaway: Well-designed, interactive and genuinely fun. The character analysis game was a standout, and the generous giveaway left me curious about the series.

Super Troopers 3: The Kind of Offsite I Really Appreciate

If you've followed my Comic-Con coverage, you know I appreciate an offsite that respects my time.

The Super Troopers 3 activation was exactly the kind of experience I love. It had a short line with a high reward.

Once inside, we were fed, given drinks, had air conditioning, something to keep us entertained and walked away with free merchandise. That's a winning formula.

It also helped that I'm a fan of the original Super Troopers, because the OG references made the experience even more enjoyable.

This is a great example of why an offsite doesn't necessarily have to be the biggest or most elaborate activation at Comic-Con to be successful. Sometimes, fans simply want an experience that is fun, comfortable, generous and respectful of their time.

My takeaway: Short line + AC + food + drinks + entertainment + free merch = a very happy Comic-Con fan.

My Favorite San Diego Comic-Con 2026 Offsites

After visiting all of these experiences, a few things stood out to me about what makes a great Comic-Con offsite.

It's not necessarily about having the biggest footprint or the most elaborate set. Good line management matters. Comfortable waiting areas matter. Interactive elements matter. And, yes, giveaways matter.

Most importantly, I want to feel like the experience was worth the time I spent waiting for it.

For me, Lanterns was one of the biggest standouts of Comic-Con 2026, while Super Troopers 3 delivered exactly the type of fan-friendly experience I appreciate. Paramount+ Lodge also impressed me with its standby management, food, drinks and entertainment.

Hulu Animayhem and Percy Jackson had strong concepts and memorable elements, although their queue experiences demonstrated how important crowd management is for high-demand activations. Adult Swim on the Green was a definite improvement over previous years, with the carnival ride being a highlight.

And Stuart Fails to Save the Universe proved that a clever interactive game and a good giveaway can go a long way toward making fans curious about a new show.

What Will These Comic-Con Offsites Look Like at D23?

Now that San Diego Comic-Con 2026 is in the books, I'm already looking ahead to D23 next month.

I'm especially curious to see whether some of these brands and experiences make an appearance at D23 — and, if they do, whether they change, expand or rework their experiences for a different audience and convention environment.

Comic-Con is a unique beast, and what works in downtown San Diego doesn't necessarily translate directly to another major fan convention.

Until then, these were my biggest takeaways from the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 offsites I visited. And if there's one thing I've learned after covering Comic-Con, it's that the offsites can sometimes be just as memorable as what's happening inside the convention center.
